YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS FAIR
Grade 5 students will once again be engaged with the Young Entrepreneurs program at Elsie Roy. Each student will be asked to design, produce and market their products. This work will begin just before Spring Break with information sent home to all families. In the meantime, you can get more details at the following link:https://www.powerplay4success.com/parents-guardians Please plan for your child to be at school for our Young Entrepreneurs Fair scheduled on Friday, May 16th.
NOTE: STUDENTS HAVE BEEN ADVISED TO START THIS WORK ONLY WHEN ADVISED TO DO SO:)
FRENCH FAMILY TREES
We are currently reviewing "Ma Famille" vocabulary in French. With this in mind, students have been asked to create a family tree consisting of up to 14 individuals. They are to identify their relatives (pets can be included too:) with a name and their relationship recorded in French. Many students will need help with identifying the names of their relatives. Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated!
Students were provided with a new novel this week, Maniac Magee. This book features a main character who has faced a lot of adversity but spends most of his time helping others. Along the way, this story touches on some important topics: racism, poverty, acts of kindness and family. This should make for some thoughtful conversations and reflections.
MATH
Since returning in January, students have been engaged with interpreting, gathering and presenting data. They have each been asked to create a variety of graphs (circle, bar, line) using the data gathered or provided. We will soon be looking at different aspects of data sets: median, mode and mean.
